For Alaska Development Consultants, we prepared a report in support of a planning application for conversion of the Brighton Hippodrome into a Vue cinema complex with associated restaurants. Brighton Hippodrome Concept ImageThe planning authority supported the application as being the only viable option for preservation of the building and for its future use as an entertainment centre. The Hippodrome has been empty for several years since its last use as a bingo hall and the internal fabric is deteriorating. The cost of restoration and refurbishment is substantial. Local campaigners mounted a vigorous challenge to the proposals in pursuit of the objective of saving the Hippodrome as a theatre. The landowners have sold the building and the new owners are not now proceeding with the cinema proposals.

Working with D&J International Consulting, we prepared estimates of future financial performance of a new cultural centre complex in Kuwait. The complex is under construction and consists of 3 theatres, 2 concert halls, a conference centre including cinema and a library. Kuwait Cultural Centre graphicWe proceeded to phase 2 of the contract, which involved the specification of operating and FM contracts for the management of the centre and oversight of the procurement process.

We provided expert advice for a private pension fund on the development options for a former cinema and snooker club located in South London.
